Best known for his cult role as Jim in The Office, John Krasinski is also a director, and unveils his new film, Blue & Company, starring Ryan Reynolds. The film is due in cinemas on May 8, 2024.

In contrast to his previous films as director, Sans un Bruit and its sequels, John Krasinski unveils a family comedy starring Ryan Reynolds. Blue & Compagnie, with the voices of Mylène Farmer and José Garcia in its French version, is due in cinemas on May 8.

The film tells the story of Bee, a young girl who discovers she can see people's imaginary friends. And so begins a magical adventure to reconnect each child with his or her forgotten imaginary friend. And among these fantastic creatures, you'll recognize the original voices of Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Louis Gossett Jr. and Steve Carell. The latter is no stranger to John Krasinski (who also plays a role in the film), as they shared the screen on The Office for many years.

Blue & Compagnie is a film that appeals to a family audience, especially children and their parents, thanks to its blend of comedy, adventure and fantastic touches. The presence of Ryan Reynolds brings a well-judged touch of adult humor that promises to capture the attention of parents, while Cailey Fleming delivers a performance that should resonate powerfully with young viewers.

With Blue & Compagnie, John Krasinski invites us into a world where imagination is the key to human connection, and offers a wonderful adventure for the whole family. Expected in cinemas on May 8, 2024, a public holiday in France, this film is a perfect opportunity for parents and children to reflect together on the value and power of friendship and imagination.

Our opinion on the film Blue & Compagnie:

Blue & Compagnie, directed by John Krasinski and starring Ryan Reynolds, is a vibrant example of family cinema, embracing fantasy with an acute sensitivity for human emotions. The film transports us to a world where imaginary friends become visible, brilliantly exploring themes of friendship and acceptance through the eyes of Bee, played with captivating innocence.

Blue & Compagnie ventures into the family fantasy genre with a narrative simplicity that draws viewers into a world that is both playful and moving. The film's structure, while following a fairly classic narrative arc, stands out for its poignant scenes between Bee and her imaginary friends, capturing the essence of childhood challenges. The teenager lost her mother at a very young age, and her father's hospitalization in the same hospital plunges her back into this suffering.

Visually, Krasinski's bright colors and playful lighting contribute to the fairytale atmosphere, while Michael Giacchino's soundtrack envelops the viewer in a mood that is both joyful and nostalgic. The computer-generated imaginary friends are soft and cuddly, reminiscent of the characters in Monsters & Co. The acting also deserves special mention; the chemistry between Ryan Reynolds and young Cailey Fleming adds significant emotional depth, making their interactions both believable and touching.

John Krasinski, best known for directing the horror saga Sans un Bruit, offers us here a new enchanted universe and a visually impressive and emotionally rich work. Blue & Compagnie is entertainment for all ages, offering both lightness and emotional complexity without ever sinking into excessive sentimentality. It's a film that, while entertaining, invites viewers to reflect on the importance of the invisible ties that bind us together. This makes it a memorable and recommendable work, perfectly illustrating how a film can both entertain and move.
