Restitution contemporaine de l’œuvre de la figure historique de l’homme d’armes et maître de musique, fleurettiste et violoniste d’origine guadeloupéenne Joseph Bologne de Saint-George, Saint-George en Mouvement(s) : Chevalier virtuose entremêle musique classique, danse contemporaine et escrime actuelle dans un opus musical et chorégraphique en trois volets orchestré par le violoniste Romuald Grimbert-Barré et la chorégraphe Johana Malédon. Oscillant entre la dualité d’une gestuelle codifiée et de mouvements improvisés induits par des partitions parfois lacunaires, cette création originale invite à une réflexion transhistorique sur le destin singulier d’un homme extraordinaire, esclave de naissance devenu homme de couleur libre et éduqué dont Paris tomba sous le charme au Siècle des Lumières et des Abolitions. Passé à la célébrité sous le nom de Chevalier de Saint-George, c’est son portrait, autant que celui de la ville qui contribua à le façonner, qui est présenté ici en filigrane.
Romuald Grimbert-Barré est un violoniste français d’origine guadeloupéenne, lauréat des concours internationaux de Chine et Oistrakh à Moscou. Il a aussi été « Révélation classique » de l’ADAMI et lauréat de la fondation Banque Populaire. Romuald a régulièrement l’occasion de jouer en soliste à travers l’Europe, l’Asie et les États-Unis.
Johana Malédon, est une chorégraphe et danseuse interprète originaire de Guyane. Actuellement artiste associée au CCN du Havre en Normandie, elle développe une danse ancrée, fluctuante et engagée qu’elle déploie dans ses propres œuvres chorégraphiques avec la compagnie MÂLE, en France et à l’International. Elle place le corps au centre de sa réflexion et aime l’articuler autour de ses contradictions et ses limites à travers des propositions allant du solo à la grande forme.

Four 35-minute performances
Contemporary restitution of the work of the historical figure of the man-at-arms and music master, foil player and violinist of Guadeloupean origin Joseph Bologne de Saint-George, Saint-George en Mouvement(s): Virtuoso knight interweaves baroque music, contemporary dance and current fencing in a musical and choreographic opus in three parts orchestrated by the violinist Romuald Grimbert-Barré and the choreographer Johana Malédon. Oscillating between the duality of codified gestures and improvised movements induced by sometimes incomplete scores, this original creation invites a transhistorical reflection on the singular destiny of an extraordinary man, a slave by birth who became a free and educated man of color including Paris fell under the spell of the Age of Enlightenment and Abolitions. Having become famous under the name of Knight of Saint-George, it is his portrait, as much as that of the city which helped to shape him, which is presented here implicitly.
Romuald Grimbert-Barré is a French violinist of Guadeloupean origin, winner of the international competitions in China and Oistrakh in Moscow. He was also a "Classic Revelation" of ADAMI and laureate of the Banque Populaire foundation. Romuald regularly has the opportunity to play as a soloist throughout Europe, Asia and the United States.
Johana Malédon, is a choreographer and dancer-performer from Guyana. Currently an associated artist at the CCN du Havre in Normandy, she develops an anchored, fluctuating and committed dance which she deploys in her own choreographic works with the MÂLE company, in France and internationally. She places the body at the center of her reflection and likes to articulate it around its contradictions and its limits through proposals ranging from solo to large forms.
