This year’s White Night, called “la Nuit blanche,” will take place on Saturday, October 1st, 2016. For the 15th Nuit Blanche, 30 artists will take the city by storm, capital from dusk until dawn, visible along a special visitors route created by José-Manuel Gonçalves!
The 2016 Nuit Blanche is planned for October 1st, 2016 starting at 7pm on the north side of the capital. As the sun goes down and into the night, Parisians can rediscover a part of the city and the region through special presentations and events for little-known sites. We see these places in a new light, along a route full of contemporary works.
This year, it’s José Manuel Gonçalves, Centquatre director since 2010, that has authored the project and invites the public to two artistic routes through the streets of Paris. For the occasion, more than 30 international artists have created installations for the capital.
For 2016 Nuit Blanche, unlike last year, José-Manuel Gonçalves concentrates the installations in two routes situated on the northern side of the capital, each one about an hour’s visit. Check out the two different routes for Paris’s White Night, La Nuit Blanche:
Northeast Route: Passes through the Parc Martin Luther King, the former railway the “Petite Ceinture,” the Recyclerie and the Hasard Ludique, new cultural center along the Petite Ceinture.
Northwest Route: Passes by the 104, the Halle Pajol, the Rosa Parks train station, the MacDonald factories and the Linear Forest (forêt linéaire).
Everything has been organized to make it easier to get around on White Night. We were assured that it wouldn’t take more than 30 minutes to get from one route to another, with the help of a special public transportation plan by the RATP.
The presentations will include Chinese artist Zhenchen Liu, graduated from Fresnoy, Swiss Simoun, German Friedrich Van Schoor, Belgium Berlinde De Bruyckere, and French artists like Erik Samakh and Félicie d’Estienne d’Orves. All of these artists will explore the question of climate change and our future in Paris. These stops throughout the capital are sure to create an evening full of emotions, teaching us about unexpectedly interesting buildings. Monumental works, street art installations, sensorial experiences and even brunch are all part of the program! Note: there will also be a kid’s route by Paris Mômes to raise their environmental awareness.
And what’s a party without some food? A number of restaurants will also participate in the 2016 Nuit Blanche, closing later to offer guests small plates to keep us energized through the long night. And for all of those people that live in the region but don’t want to make their way all the way to the city that night, there will be numerous places to experience White Night in other parts of the region:
So enjoy La Nuit Blanche, everyone!
