As the legislative elections approach, don't panic if you haven't received your electoral card! You don't need one to vote; a simple identity card or even your health insurance card is all you need to cast your ballot.

In 2024, the French are invited to go to the polls, to elect deputies to theNational Assembly, recently dissolved by French President Emmanuel Macron. A civic act, symbolized by the electoral card. However, you may not have this card in your possession: lost, stolen, moved house, too old: many people don't have their electoral card to vote on these Sundays, June 30 and July 7, 2024. But don't worry, you don 't need a card to cast your ballot. In fact, a photographic proof of identity is all you need for the occasion.

It's always a good idea to have it with you, as it greatly facilitates the work of the polling station staff, by certifying that you are indeed registered on the electoral roll. Presenting an old electoral card is not useful, as it would give the wrong serial number. The new electoral card also includes a QR Code which, when scanned, takes you to the elections.interieur.gouv.fr website for information on the ballot. However, if you don't have it, you can still vote.

In case of loss, non-receipt, or theft of your electoral card, according to the decree of November 16, 2018, it is possible to identify yourself to your polling station, by presenting :

  • a valid passport or one that has expired within the last five years ;
  • a valid driving license;
  • a carte vitale with a photograph;
  • a local elected official's, parliamentarian's or civil servant's identity card bearing a photograph;
  • a disability card or mobility-inclusion card;
  • a veteran's card with photograph;
  • a hunting license with photograph;
  • a receipt providing proof of identity.
