Like every year, this is the event that jazz fans and enthusiasts look forward to; I'm talking, of course, about the Jazz à La Villette Festival. From Thursday August 29 to Sunday September 8, 2024, creators and innovators take to the stages of the Philharmonie de Paris and the Cité de la Musique to amaze and surprise you with a resolutely modern and contemporary musical style. For over 10 days, jazz will be in the spotlight, in a variety of forms and with a host of guests.
This year, the Jazz à la Villette festival once again deploys the full range of jazz and crosses genres, offering a living panorama of a music that is constantly evolving, thanks to a unique program designed under the new direction of Anne Sanogo (Philharmonie de Paris) and Frank Piquard (La Villette). On the menu for this 2024 edition ? Brad Mehldau, in trio and solo, as well as Kenny Garrett, drummer Makaya McCraven and singers Mahalia and Alice Russell.
And last but not least, this year's festival will not be taking place at the Grande Halle de La Villette (occupied by the Paralympic Games), and will be taking advantage of the opportunity to move into new venues. In addition to the Philharmonie de Paris and the Cité de la Musique, the festival is also taking up residence at the Périphérique and the New Morning, with several evenings featuring Tinariwen and BCUC, British musician and producer Kamaal Williams and American duo Knower, or the blues band formed by Pascal Danaë, Baptiste Brondy and Rafge, Delgres, as well as The Strangers project (General Elektriks, Leeroy, Lateef the Truthspeaker) and of course Omar and Curtis Harding. Tickets for all these concerts open on May 16, 2024 at 12 noon.
