When art takes action to help refugees… The Palais de Tokyo welcomes an exhibition on the refugees and their conditions, We Dream Under The Same Sky collectively initiated by Julie Boukobza, Chantal Crousel, Blache de Lestrange, Niklas Svennung and Marine Van Schoonbeek. This event, in partnership with five NGOs, is held from September 16 to 21, 2017 and is open to all. It offers to have a look at works given by over 25 international artists.
Among them: Abdel Abdessemed (creator of the statue of Zidane nutting Materazzi – a work that was widely talked about in September 2012), Mona Hatoum, Glenn Ligon, Latifa Echakhch, Isa Genzken, Laura Owens, Annette Messager, Sturtevant, Wolfgang Tillmans, Cindy Sherman and even Danh Vo, just to name a few.
These works will also be auctioned at Christie’s (partner of the event) at the Galerie Azzedine Alaïa. The funds will then be donated to the five NGOs working at welcoming, caring and integrating refugees: MIGREUROP, ANAFE, La CIMADE, Primo Levi Center and Thot.
Panels as well as meetings with the NGOs, screenings and other art performances are also held to raise awareness about the refugees, their status and their conditions.
