The place story, its architecture, its displayed exhibitions… the Musée Guimet isn’t over revealing you its secrets. On the occasion of the 35th edition of European Heritage Days, the Musée national des arts asiatiques – MNAAG [National museum of Asian Arts] – offers a unique tour of Hotel Heidelbach on Saturday September 15 and Sunday September 16, 2018.
Built between 1913 and 1915 by the Heidelbach couple, the hotel of the same name is both a place where Chinese furniture collections are displayed to the visitors and a place where all year long, readings are held in the Salon Pelliot. Its garden, that reopened in the spring 2018, proposes in its pavilion to discover the ceremony of tea and its signification for Asian culture and traditions.
A pavilion – the chashitsu – designed by architect Nakamura Masao and built in 2001 by the best artisans from the country of the Rising Sun. its architecture is an ideal of peace and modesty as well as an example of extreme refinement in terms of the used timber.
Visitors can learn more during these two days of free visit and go behind the scenes through various lounges and spaces inside the hotel. The opportunity too to discover the current exhibitions including Terres de Riz and Carte Blanche à Kim Chong-Hak.
