The United States in the spotlight at the Fondation Vuitton! On the occasion of the exhibition Être Moderne: le MoMA à Paris from October 11, 2017 to March 5, 2018, the museum is offering its very first nocturne on November 3, 2017 from 7pm to 11pm. These nocturnes continue every Friday evening until March 2, 2018. A unique opportunity to " see and experience the event differently ".
On the program for this first nocturne is artist Lele Saveri - incidentally photographer and curator of 8 ball zines magazine - and a celebration of his work The Newsstand originally exhibited in the Lorimer Street subway station in Brooklyn. A work in the shape of a newsstand selling exclusively New York independent press, it is also an exhibition in its own right, entitled Commuters (available until November 20), featuring photos of passers-by in the Big Apple's subway system.
In all, 500 candid portraits are on offer to photography enthusiasts. A Zine Time vending machine is also on hand to offer visitors 1,000 zines during this first night, with the help of the Pau Wau collective. Two concerts are also scheduled inside the newsstand: one by rapper ICHON (from 7.15pm to 8pm), and the second by raï singer Mohamed Lamouri (from 9pm to 9.30pm).
A DJ set is also on offer in the Hall with the group Grand Blanc, for a surprising mix of pop, hip-hop and rock with an American flavour. The mix starts at 8:30pm.
