USA are given pride of place at Fondation Vuitton! On the occasion of the exhibition Being Modern: the MoMA in Paris running from October 11, 2017 to March 5, 2018, the museum offers its very first late-night opening on Friday November 3, 2017 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Late-night openings are held every first Friday evening of each month until March 2, 2018. A unique occasion to “see and experience” the event “in a new way”.
On the menu of this first late-night opening, artist Lele Saveri – also photographer and curator of the magazine 8 ball zines – and the celebration of his work The Newsstand, originally exhibited in the subway station Lorimer Street in Brooklyn. A work in the shape of a newsstand only selling New York independent press and aiming at being an exhibition on itself, called Commuters (available until November 20) by offering pictures of subway travelers in the big apple.
All in all, 500 portraits taken on the spot are offered to photography amateurs. A Zine Time vending machine is also displayed to offer 1000 zines to visitors of this first late-night opening with a contest held by Collectif Pau Wau. Two concerts are also scheduled within the newsstand: one performed by rapper ICHON (from 7:15 p.m. to 8 p.m.) and one by Raï singer Mohamed Lamouri (from 9 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.).
A DJ set is also offered in the Hall with the band Grand Blanc with a surprising mix of American sounds mixing pop, hip-hop and rock music. A mix starting at 8:30 p.m.
