Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson looks like new! The place reopens in a brand-new area starting November 6, 2018 within walking distance from the Place de la République, in rue des Archives in Paris 3rd arrondissement to be precise. A bigger area, more welcoming for visitors and highlighting culture including now the possibility to welcome school groups.
A move that is not necessarily one since the Fondation talks about a “development” since the museum has a new venue, a new ambition and a new team for an area created in "a spirit of transparency and communication". The Fondation is set in a former garage transformed by architects from Novo and enjoys a research library and bigger archives in addition to the exhibition areas. The reception and meditation are also emphasized.
The programming is like the one already offered, that means it offers ancient and modern photographs exhibitions answering one another. About the collection, about 50,000 original prints are now kept as well as 200,000 negatives and contact-boards, 1500 books, 4500 letters and manuscripts and even 6000 press article, posts and documents... The whole brought togeher for the first time in the same place. A good reason to have a look... Shall we go there, friends?
