Suez Canal epic: the exhibition at Paris Arab World Institute

Institut du Monde Arabe’s [Arab World Institute] new major exhibition is coming from March 27, 2018. It will return on the very big human undertaking: “Suez Canal epic: from the pharaohs to the 21st century”.

Crucial point of trade between men, between the North and the South, the East and the West: telling the story of the Suez Canal is telling the History… From March 27 to August 5, 2018, at Paris Arab World Institute, you can discover this incredible epic through the centuries that will start from the Egypt’s Pharaohs!

Inaugurated in the 19th century, in 1869, the very famous Canal allowing to link the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea is the subject of an extraordinary saga that lasted for over 4,000 years. The very long exhibition follows a cinematographic principle that is to unroll history and the issues of this region from the Pharaohs to the very last modern work allowing to extend the canal.

Archeological objects, models, photographs, period video clips will tell the highlights of the peculiar story of this symbolic place at the crossing of three continents, Asia, Africa and Europe.
