An evening under the aegis of the equestrian world... The Domaine de Chantilly is offering a "nocturnal walk" of its Grandes Ecuries to mark Museum Night on May 18, 2019. The program includes a free tour of the Grandes Ecuries and the Musée du Cheval, as well as entertainment for young and old.
From 7pm to 11pm, visitors will be able to stroll through 15 rooms in the Cour des Remises of the Grandes Ecuries and contemplate over 200 objects linked to the equestrian world and its history, as well as numerous works of art. A chronological tour immerses horse lovers in over 1,000 years of history, covering the domestication of equids, the different breeds of horse around the world, and the evolution of harnessing through the ages.
In terms of shows and activities, the Compagnie's horsewomen present four highlights: a show based on donkeys and ponies, then a demonstration of high school dressage, followed by a Garrocha number, an Amazon riding demonstration, and finally, free-riding is given pride of place, as visitors will be able to see the bond between the horsewoman and her horses.
And this year, there are two new features: firstly, events in partnership with AFASEC, the horse racing school in Gouvieux, where students will present their school and training, as well as a demonstration of a mechanical horse. The Confrérie des Chevaliers Fouetteurs de Crème Chantilly ( Chantilly Cream Whipping Knights Brotherhood) will be offering visitors a variety of demonstrations involving the famous cream and choux garnis. Various products will also be on sale.
