Star Wars saga comes to Paris for an incredible exhibition called “Les fans contre-attaquent” [The fans strike back]. This installation, also claimed the best exhibition of the year in Spain by a jury of Internet-users, is something you don’t want to miss and running from December 14, 2018 to March 10, 2019 in a brand-new Parisian venue: the Centre Expo Lafayette Drouot.
Its particularity? It’s been made, designed and created by a fan: Daniel Prada. Born in Madrid, this Spanish man is fond of science-fiction and started collecting objects of all kinds in his younger years. But during his teenage years, he feels attracted by the dark side. Since then, he entirely dedicates himself to the Star Wars universe.
As the press release reads, the exhibition “The Fans strike back” is for “other fans so that each lover of the famous saga could dive into the delights of this oh-so peculiar and enchanting universe”. So yes, you better know at least something to visit the Centre Expo Lafayette to make the most of the "Fans Strike Back" exhibition.
Because this installation shows “unique pieces that have been made by fans from all over the world, incredible geniuses, talented craftsmen and women who built sculptures, models or recreated costumes that are genuine pieces of art.”
Many figurines are to be discovered on the three levels of the Centre Expo Lafayette as well as exceptional pieces such as, a life-size 5-m tall Jabba the Hutt, and even a life-size 3.90-m tall rancor! We are impressed by how precise the details of each piece are.
We also loved the life-size 1.80-m tall exploration droid, without forgetting the unmissable Chewbacca.
All the legendary characters and creatures of the saga are here, right in front of us: Yoda, r2d2, ewoks, princess Leia without forgetting Darth Vader... All in all 600 pieces are displayed for this installation said to be the biggest private collection in Europe ever.
And to make sure you don't lose track, each floor of the Centre Expo Lafayette returns on the story of the different trilogies. Each piece is also exhibited with small informative notes (Planet, size, species, line, descritpion and episode where you can find the character or the creature).
In other words, it's a very beautiful immersion into the Star Wars universe that this installation provides, an exhibition likely to make many fans of the saga happy!
Note that the “The Fans strike back” exhibition will also offer workshops, cosplay contests and conferences and animations of all kinds.
