Free night at the Louvre

The Louvre launches free night-time visits on the 1st Saturday of the month. Concerts, torch-lit visits, paper chase and guided tours, the Louvre wishes to make us experience new adventures. Next event held on Saturday February 2, 2019 don't forget to sign up!

On Saturday February 2, 2019 we’ve got an appointment with the Louvre for a unique night. All evening long, we will enjoy the museum as well as unique activities accessible on the Louvre Facebook page!

The Museum houses masterpieces such as Veronese Marriage at Cana, Winged Victory of Samothrace, Venus de Milo, Liberty leading the people by Delacroix, The Raft of the Medusa by Géricault and Mona Lisa by Leonardo Da Vinci... Come along and discover them all in a beautiful atmosphere, by night and most of all, for free.

These works, as well as the Italian and French paintings, the Egyptian, Greek, Etruscan and Roman antiquities as well as Islam art of the Denon and Sully wings are open to all, all night long. During these free late-night openings, you can access the Denon and Sully wings.

Note that the Richelieu wing will be free but only open upon booking, within the limit of tickets available since many entertainments are planned in the Cour Marly, in the Cour Khorsabad and the Cour Puget!

In January 2019, for the first late-night opening, a reading nook and a game board area was set between two sculptures in the Cour Puget, brass from the Orchestre de Paris gave a rhythm to the tour and the Cour Khorsabad was plunged into darkness for a torch-lit tour.

In addition to these entertainments, the lucky participants can enjoy Dutch paintings, French sculptures and Napoleon III's apartments, all are set in the Richelieu wing.

With this event, the Louvre wants to make Ile de France inhabitants, young people and families come back. Free evenings are on a roll in Parisian museums: The Musée d’Orsay, the Musée du Quai Branly and the Louvre, the greatest museums throw themselves into organizing festive events where the museum offers something else than slowly visiting the museum in endless queues just to catch sight of a work for a few seconds!

The first edition has been a huge success and even though you have to wait quite a long time, it's okay since the Louvre is so beautiful at night, you have to run there every first Saturday of the month!
