“The Empress of Beauty” comes to Paris… The Musée d’art et d’histoire du Judaïsme dedicates an exhibition to Helena Rubinstein, called “The Adventure of Beauty” from March 20 to August 25, 2019. A retrospective offering to diver into the private collection of this Polish industrialist who created the eponymous beauty products company, through documents, objects, photos, engravings, clothes, tapestries, paintings, sculptures and other works galore.

Among the artists displayed, we have Marc Chagall, Louis Marcoussis, Elie Nadelman, Michel Kikoïne, Sarah Lipska and even Maurice Utrillo. An exhibition telling the life and story of this exceptional woman that Jean Cocteau dubbed “the Empress of beauty”. And a great lady who “reinvented beauty by adapting it to the modern world” and who started collection tribal arts and painting very early.

Helena Rubinstein also poses for the greatest: Raoul Dufy, Salvador Dali, Marie Laurencin… As many artists who knew how to immortalize the beauty and the sophistication of this passionate woman. An exhibition eventually aiming at showing all the facets, telling the stages of the life of this art collector in the cities that were important to her, knowing Krakow – where she was born – as well as Paris, Vienna, London, New-York, Tel-Aviv and even Melbourne. The occasion too to know more about one of the first women who knew how to highlight every lady’s beauty.
