Art is everywhere in la Défense! Huge open-air museum, La Défense provides 69 artworks to enjoy, including César’s Le Pouce, Bernar Venet’s Doubles Lignes Indéterminées, Talkis’ Bassin, Joan Miro’s Personnages Fantastiques, Alexander Calder’s Araignée Rouge. And for three summers now, art comes with Les Extatiques, an open-air exhibition displayed on the esplanade.
This year is no exception to the rule: from June 22 to October 2, 2022, Les Extatiques are back at La Défense and La Seine Musicale, and we are over the moon.
For the fifth edition of this open-air contemporary art exhibition, discover a unique route including multiple monumental and surprising works of art. French and international artists invited for the exhibition have created exclusive sculptures and installations changing the way one can see the world.
This year, enjoy works by Elsa Tomkowiak, Marcus Coates, Henrique Oliveira, Victoria Klotz, collective Coloco, Franck Gérard, Gloria Friedmann, and many more.
Les Extatiques go beyond borders of La Défense to take over the gardens of the Seine musicale. Sculptures invade the public place in a delightful tour enabling to rediscover the Esplanade de la Défense and outdoors spaces of La Seine Musicale (parvis, rooftop-garden...). Some works are even set to stay and join the 69 works of La Défense, the others will be included in departmental collection.
Make the most of Les Extatiques to enjoy a walk in these lively and dynamic areas. With your family or friends, be surprised, seduced, have fun with the never-before-seen creations by these famous artists.
