The Palais de Tokyo invites the curious to discover the exhibition L'esprit commence et finit au bout des doigts, running from October 16 to November 10, 2019. An unprecedented dive into French arts and crafts and their know-how!

20 years of commitment is something to celebrate! That's why the Palais de Tokyo is dedicating an exhibition to French arts and crafts, entitled L'esprit commence et finit au bout des doigts, from October 16 to November 10, 2019. An exhibition that celebrates, to be more precise, the Bettencourt Schueller Foundation 's 20-year commitment to art artisans and the excellence of their skills. A foundation"aware of the importance of the fine crafts sector and the current enthusiasm it enjoys".

The retrospective, curated by Laurent Le Bon and designed byIsabelle Cornaro, showcases the work of numerous artisans. The idea? To highlight"the beauty of arts and crafts and their resolutely contemporary character". Set in the Orbe New-York stage at the Palais de Tokyo, the exhibition route is divided into four sequences,"playing on the variation of light intensities and the dilation of spaces, opening with a historical perspective, seeking to magnify hands, alone and then embodied".

And an exhibition whose title comes from Paul Valery's novel L'idée fixe ou deux Hommes à la mer, published in 1932. The title echoes the author's quotations inscribed on the pediments of the Palais de Chaillot, now the Musée de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine, a building adjacent to the museum and built at the same time. An opportunity to rediscover a museum and a heritage building... How about a trip to the Palais de Tokyo, folks?

Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
