In Paris you can visit Le Corbusier’s apartment, Victor Hugo’s House in the Place des Vosges, walk by Gainsbourg’s house and write a note on the wall… And in Paris 16th arrondissement, in Passy, you can visit Balzac’s house!
Recently renovated, the house of the famous writer was unveiled again this late August 2019. Months later, the coronavirus epidemic and lockdown made it close, like other cultural places in France. And as the country keeps on exiting containment, Balzac's House is expected to be able to reopen again on June 16, 2020. On the occasion, tours will be adated to health instructions.
It’s here, in Passy, that Balzac lived for seven years and wrote “La Comédie Humaine” [The human Comedy]. This house, now transformed into a museum, will tell us all about Balzac’s life: manuscripts, daily items, paintings, engravings, original prints. For a year, Balzac’s House underwent renovation works. Now, the house-museum opens again to make you discover its new areas covering 3 floors as well as a freshened-up garden that is yet still as charming.
