The occasion to discover a lead figure of the British sculpting in the 20th century… Paris Musée Rodin – in partnership with London Tate – provides all art and sculpture lovers with their latest exhibition about sculptor Barbara Hepworth, an exhibition running from November 5, 2019 to March 22, 2020. Rather unknown in France, this renowned artist has yet rubbed shoulder with Henry Moore, Picasso, Calder, Miro and even Mondrian.
A true figure of modern art who revolutionized sculpture and “sought a new aesthetic”. Her abtract works “imbued with poetic purity” try to unveil to curious people “an ideal, peaceful world”. Through this exhibition, the Musée Rodin offers an overview of her career and work, as well as “an insight into her working methods”.
The whole is displayed along with pictures from the artist's family, letters and press cuttings, we have an intimate insight about the sculptor's life. The small studio displaying her tools almost lets us think that Barbara Hepworth is about to come in and present her new work.
The occasion to discover a woman outside her time, who was also a pioneer artist in her field! Note that the Musée Rodin already welcomed the artist during her life for this exhibition, 60 years ago. A new chance for the museum to reintroduce this sculptor to Parisians and tourists, as well as the “powerful and poetic art”. Let’s go to the Musée Rodin, friends, shall we?
