Have you heard about the Musée Guimet. Set in Paris 16th arrondissement, this historic venue expects you for a fantastic journey to the discovery of its permanent collections, splendied areas and exotic exhibitions. And discover the terrace serving awe-inspiring views on the Eiffel Tower.

This is a museum that kept the curiosity and freshness of its founder Emile Guimet (1836-1918), a Lyon industrial who was an art collector, especially collection Asian art and whose collection is at the origin of the museum now named after him.

If the Musée Guimet was at first based on the experience of discovering, the intelligence of works and the diversity of the art approaches, it continues in the 21st century to maintain the taste and curiosity for yesterday’s and today’s Asia that always shown its capacity of adaptation and innovation through the centuries.

Based on the “Souffle et énergie au coeur” theme, the museum offers through a special tour, entertainments to discover fusion music, contemporary Asian creations or even the very playful experience of an escape room.

During his travels to Asia, especially to Japan in the 19th century, Emile Guimet was looking tirelessly works that were extremely contemporary. Today, the Musée Guimet keeps on improving its contemporary work collections and presents than in an original tour called “L’Asie maintenant” that can be completed within the permanent collection and were can be found over 150 recent and recently purchased works.

Devoted to a large public, the Musée Guimet targets visitors looking to know Asia better, understand and be moved, as an answer to the founder’s wish to create in 1889 “a museum that thinks, a museum that talks and a museum that lives”.
