The Petit Palais presents “The Golden Age of the Danish Painting”, an exhibition bringing together the greatest Danish painters from 1800 to 1864. Created in partnership with Stockholm Nationalmuseum and Copenhagen SMK, the exhibition displays over 200 works standing out because of their painter’s originality and skills. Initially planned from Tuesday April 28 to Sunday August 16, 2020, the exhibition will run from September 22, 2020 to January 3, 2021.
Art enthusiasts and budding painters can only appreciate the precise work conducted by the artists on light and all the details brought to each scene depicted. These works are of a surprising precision and become genuine windows to Denmark and Copenhagen.
This exhibition offers us to travel all the way to Denmark without even leaving Paris. Painters highlighted by the Petit Palais have painted many life scenes focusing on travel, work, family and life in the Danish capital. Walking around the different paintings, we feel like taken to these landscapes.
Paris Fine Art museum doesn’t only display beautiful paintings. Artists are part of the exhibition such as Christoffer Eckersberg, Christen Købke, Martinus Rørbye or even Constantin Hansen have delivered – in their own way – their thoughts about politics, economy and even social conditions in Denmark at their time.
After visiting the “The Golden Age of the Danish Painting” exhibition, don’t forget to give a go to the permanent collections and free exhibitions of the Petit Palais. Crossing the street, you can also visit the exhibitions and permanent collections displayed at the Grand Palais.
