La force du dessin, the Prat collection at the Petit Palais

The Petit Palais is showcasing the Prat collection in an exhibition entitled "La Force du dessin". From June 16 to October 4, 2020, three centuries of drawings by major French artists will be on display for you to discover or rediscover.

The Petit Palais presents an exceptional exhibition in 2020. Originally scheduled to run from Tuesday March 24 to Sunday July 12, 2020, the exhibition La force du dessin will now run from June 16 to October 4, 2020. It features an ensemble of drawings from the collection of Louis-Antoine and Véronique Prat, presented for the first time since 1995 and including masterpieces by great French masters.

The numerous drawings on show at the Petit Palais cover three centuries of art history, from the 16th to the 19th century. They include sketches by the most famous painters of the period: Degas, David, Delacroix, Cézanne, Poussin, Toulouse-Lautrec... Art enthusiasts can discover the drawings and sketches that preceded the creation of great works, such as David's Douleurs d'Andromaque,Ingres ' Songe d'Ossian and Le Brun's drawings for the Versailles decor.

La Force du Dessin is also an opportunity to rediscover forgotten artists such as Laurent de La Hyre and Anne-Louis Girodet. The Prat collection impresses with the richness and renown of its works. The drawings on show are not mere drafts, but true masterpieces, with as much force, technique, talent andemotion as paintings.
