Over 180 haute couture pieces and 138 pieces created for the Saint Laurent Rive Gauche brand. This is what included Betty Catroux’s closet, what she gave to the Fondation Pierre Bergé – Yves Saint-Laurent. For the Betty Catroux. Feminine Singular exhibition, 50 outfits are highlighted in the museum galleries.

Clothes displayed reflect perfect beauty and the designer’s image. And for good reason: when he saw Betty Catroux for the first time, Yves Saint-Laurent “fell madly in love with” her silhouette, her look and her subversive character. The model will later have a strong influence on the designer, inspiring him new looks, new styles.

The exhibition also makes us walk through the history of the Yves Saint-Laurent brand, deeply bond to Betty Catroux. We can find pictures and private documents that have never been displayed before and showing the strong relationship and the unique bond that united the two fashion figures. According to Saint-Laurent, Betty Catroux simply was his “female double”.

This is a must-see exhibition that the Yves Saint-Laurent museum offers us so that we can understand and enjoy the designer’s work better and admire all the beautiful creations and Betty Catroux’s unparalleled class.
