Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie season 2020-2021 will mostly focus on ecology and environment. Starting with something new: a permanent exhibition comes from September 18, 2020: Bio-inspirée. The Cité des Sciences keeps on exploring the contemporary world and pays interest in the living and its survival.
The route of the exhibition revolves around four acts. The first one is a foretaste – almost in the literal meaning. The first part enables us to raise awareness, arouse visitors’ curiosity and alert their critical sense. In the second act, we are amazed by the beauty, the richness, the size of nature. We arrive in a greenhouse sheltering three ecosystems: a coral reef and its macroalgae, a mangrove, a forest soil and a permaculture garden. Every time, a board – illustrated by a naturalist drawer – displays eight to ten species. Each visit is unique: ecosystems evolve all year around.
The third act offers us the privilege to observe the living, to see connections and synchronizations between all organisms. Life on Earth, the fragile balance it enables it is detailed on the different boards. The first part encourages us to get inspired by Leonardo da Vinci: “Learn nature and you will find the future”. The route invites us to think about sustainable development and the evolution of our lifestyles.
We also discover a new mediation area: the Biolab. Visitors are encouraged to take part in talks and experiments around the environment.
Bio-inspirée is accompanied by conferences, from November 17 to December 8, about nature. Searchers explore relationships between men and the environment, and wonder about climate change and tomorrow’s world.
Bio-inspirée joins the permanent exhibition family including Robots, E-Lab, Brain, Men and genes, Argonaute, Sous L’Océan, Solar Impulse 1…
