The Arab World Institute pays tribute to all the women who made the golden age of the Arabian cinema and music. Come and admire the portraits of these oh-so talented stars by visiting the Divas, d'Oum Kalthoum à Dalida exhibition from May 19 to July 25, 2021. An exhibit filled with songs, exclusive pictures, movie extracts, movie posters and even concerts to make your eyes sparkle.

Legendary artists, timeless icons, strong women, avant-garde pioneer, the Divas exhibitions is a genuine proof of love to all the actresses and singers who took part in the evolution of the post-war Arabic societies and who remain references idolized by everyone. Oum Kalthoum, Warda al-Djazaïria, Asmahan, Fayrouz, Laila Mourad, Samia Gamal, Souad Hosni, Sabah, Dalida… There are many of them and they are gathered in this wonderful display.

In the middle of private items, sparkling stage gowns, original photographs, movie extracts, or legendary shows, rare interviews and movie poster. We discover the life and fights of these women, and especially the influence they had on the patriarchal societies they lived in.

The exhibition tells about the feminist fights, and the story of these Arab women in countries taking in fights for independence and decolonization.

The display covers 1,000sqm and is divided into four parts. In turns, we learn more about the pioneer females, the feminist avant-gardes, the success of musicals… And we finish with the looks of today’s artists on these divas whose heritage is a great source of inspiration for a brand-new generation.

You can already enjoy a foretaste of this great exhibition with IMA Summer Club, the live rooftop making you dance to the legendary Arabic World singers. As for the opening of the exhibition, it will depend on the governmental measures and the evolution of the epidemic.
