Artificialis, the exhibition by Laurent Grasso at the Musée d'Orsay

Laurent Grasso invests the Musée d'Orsay with a new film to be seen from May 19 to July 18, 2021, as part of the exhibition The Origins of the World. The film presents a mass of images of the world in hyper acceleration, in a moment of "paroxysmal hybridization of humans and non-humans".
When the talented Laurent Grasso questions evolution, the result is a"film machine" that is written, evolves and rearranges itself on a daily basis with pre-existing images and narratives, like a deranged database that never stops running. The artist has been refining this idea for the past three years, at the request of the Musée d'Orsay, which wished to highlight Darwin's work on evolution with the problems of our time.
Alongside the exhibition The Origins of the World, you can come and admire the exhibition by Laurent Grasso, called Artificialis. From May 19 to July 18, 2021, let yourself be carried away by these poetic and modern works, which complement the great event exhibition of the Musée d'Orsay.
And for Studio Grasso, "the opacity of the world comes more from an accumulation of information to be deciphered than from geographically unknown zones that need to be cleared. So, rather than shooting new images, the artist simply searched the internet and explored what already existed, a laborious big data analysis. And the coronavirus helped him in his project, as there was a growing virtualization of the world.
The result will be seen on the big towers of the museum. Alongside this film, the artist will present a series of paintings and sculptures, still in progress.
