A wonderful tribute to a very original artist… Paris Centre Pompidou devotes a special day on Saturday September 19, 2020 to poet John Giorno who passed on October 2019. Called The John Giorno Poetry Day, this international event was created by writers Anne-James Chaton and Jean-Michel Espitailler, in partnership with several cultural institutions in the whole world including the Festival Actoral, the Fondation Louis Vuitton, the Maison de la Poésie de Nantes, and even the Haus des Kultur der Welt in Berlin.
A tribute also taking place as part of the Festival Extra ! taking place from September 11 to 17, 2020 at the Centre Pompidou, and a special day said to bring together artists, historians, and art critics close to the late poet, including Ugo Rondinone, Anne Waldman, Charles Pennequin, Joël Hubaut and even Thurston Moore. From 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., an eclectic program expects you such as video screening (Sleep by Andy Warhol, Bardo pour John Giorno by Laure Limongi and so on), as well as reading performances, panels, concerts and even exhibition tours.
A wonderful occasion to pay tribute to an artist and to discover his most contemporary work, and who knows, perhaps discovering a passion for poetry and improbable meeting with modern art… Let’s give it a go, friends, shall we?
