The Louvre Museum launches its auction of unique artworks and experiences from December 1 to 15, 2020. In total, 24 works signed by Eva Jospin, Jean-Michel Othoniel, Pierre Soulages or Xavier Veilhan, but also the discovery of the Mona Lisa out of its window and a visit of the roofs with the artist JR. The objective? To finance the museum's social actions.

"Bid for the Louvre," the Louvre's appeal is on! The Musée du Louvre contacted several popular artists to ask for their help. Many of them responded and offered a work of their choice. In all, a dozen works will be auctioned online at Christie's from December 1 to 15, 2020. The catalog of works will be presented in the coming days, but Johan Creten, Candida Höfer, Éva Jospin, Jean-Michel Othoniel, Pierre Soulages and Xavier Veilhan are among the generous donors.

The money raised will benefit the Musée du Louvre's solidarity and educational projects and the work of the Studio, a new space dedicated to artistic and cultural education for families and people with disabilities and in precarious situations, starting in the fall of 2021.

Jean-Luc Martinez, president and director of the Musée du Louvre, expressed his delight: "The artists and the Maisons proches du Louvre responded instantly to our call, and I thank them very warmly. They know that educational and social projects are at the heart of the Louvre's work. In this time of pandemic, when the most vulnerable populations are the first to be affected, they are even more necessary. [Generosity will thus be put directly at the service of solidarity.

In addition to these works of art, there are crazy experiences, such as a visit to the roofs of the Louvre Museum with the street artist JR (who created an ephemeral work for the 30th anniversary of the Pyramid), participation in the annual examination of the Mona Lisa during which the work is taken out of its display case, or personalization services.

A great way to participate in the Louvre's activities, and a wonderful gift to give at Christmas!
