Open for a couple of months, the Temporary Grand Palais has not had the chance yet to house major events. This situation is about to change! On June 19 and 20, 2021, the cultural place is to welcome the first edition of the Palais Augmenté festival, an event dedicated to augmented reality art creation.
For this first edition, the RMN – Grand Palais and Fisheye have invited students from the Gobelins school and from the ECAL school – Lausanne Cantonal Art School – to create and present an exclusive creation. In addition to these two works of art, five more installations are to be added to the big exhibition area of the Temporary Grand Palais. International artists have taken up the challenge of the Palais Augmenté festival and have created exclusive augmented reality works. You can discover projects by Mélanie Courtinat, Lauren Moffatt, Mélodie Mousset, Manuel Rossner, and Theo Triantafyllidis.
We often associate art with brushes and pencils, as new technologies enable creative spirits to give birth to incredible masterpieces. The Palais Augmenté festival aims at highlighting these new tools and show art evolves with technologies.
The access to the festival is free of charge but on booking. To grab a ticket, meet from May 31, 2021 on palaisaugmente.fr. An Android and IOS application is to be issued that day as well. This application is required to see and fully enjoy the works displayed.
For artists exhibited in June, this festival is the occasion to take over a new art place in Paris, to highlight and unveil their secrets. With the augmented reality process, they can play with our perception of reality, reassessed and reenchant our world and the way we look at it.
This never-before-seen experience is to be enjoyed at the Temporary Grand Palais. One last piece of advice before you dive into this new augmented world: think about charging your phone’s battery ahead of time to make sure you can admire all projects thanks to the Palais Augmenté application!
