Cicadas are chirping, it smells like lavender, the sun is shining… Here we are in Provence. The Atelier des Lumières takes us to these colorful and sunny lands, birthplace of painter Paul Cézanne. A region the artist painted over and over again on canvases you can soon enjoy on the walls of the Atelier des Lumières thanks to the “Cézanne, the Lights of Provence” exhibition running from February 18, 2022 to January 1, 2023.
The immersive museum takes us on the impressionist painter’s intimate turmoil, his passions and obsessions, his innovative constructions, his relationship with light and colors, and his unique bond with nature. Admire the artist’s inimitable style, the wild forests, the parks and gardens he sets up his bathers, as well as the country houses, southern cities and villages and still lives catching his eye…
Paul Cézanne shares his passion and vision of what surrounds him through bright colors, brush strokes and always moving compositions.
With this exhibition, the Atelier des Lumières emphasizes the wild inner life of the artist. His self-portraits reveal his inner torments, the harsh or curious looks of his characters follow you all around the room.
This journey to Provence and Sainte-Victoire takes you to the footsteps of his innovative artists, admired by his peers and trailblazer of the post-impressionism and cubism movements.
