Taken by Covid-19 in April 2021, fashion designer Alber Elbaz was not forgotten by his peers and fans. His AZ Factory brand held a tribute show in October 2021, gathering 46 designers, 46 creators who were inspired by the designer and his work to create new silhouettes. And the Palais Galliera pays tribute to Alber Elbaz as well with an exclusive exhibition in a surprising fashion.
From March 5 to July 10, 2022, come and admire the “Love brings Love, le défilé hommage à Aber Elbaz” [Love brings Love, the tribute show to Alber Elbaz]. The fashion museum recreated the show and offers us an immersive tour in this oh-so special universe. Models, effects, music, lights… This uncommon show is recreated to the very detail within the Palais Galliera, before our astonished eyes.
Art director for Lanvin for about fifteen years, then creator of his own brand he wanted to be inclusive, Alber Elbaz lastingly marked the fashion and haute-couture world. He was even named one of the 100 most influent people in the world in 2007 by Time magazine.
His dresses with characteristic design, his bold style, his feminine and romantic models, his taste for bright colors, and even his colorful character who made of “Love Brings Love” his mantra: everything in this fashion director called for respect from his peers.
Many of them gathered to pay tribute to his memory and work. The Palais Galliera exhibition – held thanks to loans from AZ Factory and support from Richemont – enables us to say one last goodbye to this genius designer and admire works designed by his colleagues and friends.
Discover – among the designers exhibited – Sarah Burton (Alexander McQueen), Olivier Rousteing (Balmain), Demna Gvasalia (Balenciaga), Maria Grazia Chiuri (Christian Dior), Kim Jones (Fendi), Giorgio Armani, Alessandro Michele (Gucci), Jean-Paul Gaultier, Stella McCartney… Very big names of fashion have gathered for this moving occasion.
This beautiful, dynamic and original exhibition makes us discover wonderful pieces, all very different. The staging and pieces selected carry a strong message, a universal feeling: love is the most beautiful thing!
So, shall we meet by the catwalk, then?
