From May 4 to August 29, 2022, the Fondation Louis Vuitton invites us to admire this exhibition shining a light on five painters, from different countries, backgrounds and generations, but sharing the same creative vibe.
Forget about tiny paintings, limited canvases and sheets of paper. These contemporary artists pushed the boundaries of artistry and took over their environment, transforming walls, floor, ceiling, wood, fabrics and all other surfaces into creation materials. Discover several dozens of works that are sometimes surprising, but carrying an impressive strength and luster.
Often little-known in France, these artists invited by the Louis Vuitton Foundation are yet famous worldwide. Some of these painters revolutionized their art. For instance, admire Sam Gilliam’s Drapes, an ensemble of works that hit a major milestone in the story of abstract American painting. Facing these installations, enjoy the famous series of Misshaped Canvas by Steven Parrino. Dialog starts between the two artists and their creations right in front of us.
