Contemporary art fans, here is something to think outside the box, a few miles from Paris… Head to the Château de la Maye, in Versailles, to discover the artists’ residency exhibition initiated by the Fonds de dotation Verrecchia until October 1.
A residency that began this past June, with the Bap! 2022, the Ile-de-France Architecture and Landscape Biennale, and running beyond European Heritage Days on September 17 and 18, 2022, with the highlight of the event being the exhibition of artists’ finished pieces. And lots of entertainments are planned too!
Besides the European Heritage Days, the Fonds de dotation Verrechia invites you to come and meet working artists. In all, a small dozen of them work in turns on site and on their own creations: Pria, Kuamen, Emilie Hirayama, Marine Zonca, Nova Materia, Pic Studio… As many contemporary art characters working all on the same material: cut stone.
These stones come from the Nogent-sur-Oise limestone quarries, and takes over the former hospital center in several forms, created by the artists themselves. For those who are not familiar with stone carving, the “Compagnons du Devoir” help them to create their works and some have been created in partnership with the Camille Claudel vocational high school in Remiremont, in Vosges.
Shall we go, then, friends?
