From October 19, 2022, to January 8, 2023, the Palais de Tokyo offers contemporary art lovers to enjoy an exhibition focusing on artist Guillaume Leblon’s work.

And exclusive dive into the universe of Guillaume Leblon… From October 19, 2022, to January 8, 2023, the Palais de Tokyo devotes an exhibition to the artist, his very first retrospective called “Parade”. An exhibition set within the museum and outside, on the parvis on the Seine.

According to the artist, it does not only consist of conceiving “objects to be looked at, but rather seeks he likes to create a place, like a theatre set, both intimate and public, physical and mental”, within which visitors can walk, enjoying a certain theatrical staging. The idea? Delivering a new vision of his work “Face contre terre”, consisting of about a hundred pieces of furniture and pieces of wood.

A work based on a “materialist landscape that is a floor to walk across, but also the base for a series of sculptures mounted on a rail” creating a sensation of movement. As for the title, Parade, it also bears a double meaning: staging an event undoubtedly, and a parade that can be “carnivalesque” or “authoritarian”, or even subterfuge or feint.

And for good reason: Guillaume Leblon works on “mystery and ellipsis”. No theme or “discursive figures” when it comes to presenting his work, but a composition based on “what is visible, with a perception of the world and a history of forms, with emotions and sensations”. An atypical tour playing on the artist’s emotions and visitors try to recreate through their visit. Shall we go, friends?
