Discover sciences with a new eye… From October 6 to 14, 2018, the Musée du Quai Branly – Jacques Chirac invites the public to several days celebrating science, the Fête de la Science (Science Fair). For a week, archeologists, ethnologists and anthropologists will be given pride of place.
On the menu: workshops such as the “Mission Archéo” offering families and children to discover archeology by pitching in: a reconstituted excavation site welcomes the youngest visitors in order to find remnants of a pre-Colombian civilization and then to compare their discoveries with the collections of the museum to discover Central American cultures.
Thanks to the “Histoire d’ethnolgue”, curious visitors can also follow the steps of the greatest French ethnologists(Georges Condominas, Claude Levi-Strauss) by walking along the museum collections and (re)discovering their works.
Other meetings offer to learn more about the story of Pompei and its burying during the Vesuvius eruption in 79 A.D., to discover the new non-invasive investigation technologies as part of the “virtual excavations” and even the history and use of the psychotropic plants as seen by anthropologists.
