For Nuit des Musées 2024, the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris is opening its doors to us at night, on Saturday May 18. This magnificent museum is open free of charge until 11.30pm.

MAM, the Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris, is taking part in the 20th annual Nuit des Musées, to help us experience art in a different way. Afree museum all year round, the establishment offers a fine vision of modern art, with a collection of over 10,000 works, temporary exhibitions for a fee and numerous activities for young and old alike. It's a great opportunity to get to grips with contemporary art and learn more about modern artistic movements.

OnSaturday May 18, 2024, the Musée d'Art Moderne unveils its program for the Nuit des Musées. In particular, it's an opportunity to (re)discover the museum's 20th and 21st century works, including creations by Annette Messager, Etienne-Martin, Bernard Dufour, Christian Boltanski, Gilles Aillaud and Antonio Recalcati. Enjoy the museum's permanent collections, as well as its current temporary exhibitions! Discover the special program of the Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris.

On the program for Nuit des Musées at the Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris:

  • Fêu & Oüm | Le Phare CCN du Havre Normandie Fouad Boussouf
    Saturday, May 18, 7:00 pm

To mark European Museum Night 2024, French-Moroccan choreographer Fouad Boussouf and dancers from the Phare CCN du Havre Normandie present excerpts from his latest creation Fêu and his piece Oüm (2020) in the permanent collection rooms of the Musée d'Art Moderne in Paris.

Seven dancers propel you into the incandescent energy of fire, that uncontrollable natural element, in the face of Henri Matisse's La Danse. At the same time, two performers accompanied by an oudist transport you to the heart of Raoul Dufy's Electricity Fairy, in a timeless oriental trance where song, poetry, dance and music unite to celebrate the present.

    Oüm - salle Matisse - 7pm; 8:15pm; 9:30pm
A tribute to the legendary Egyptian singer Oum Kalthoum, this piece unfolds like a jubilant hymn to love in all its forms. Fouad Boussouf orchestrates an ideal marriage between oriental dance and contemporary creation, sensuality and rhythm, the energy of the couple and the dynamics of the group. In the background, texts by Omar Khayyam, the 11th-century Persian poet whose verses Oum Kalthoum loved to sing, complete the expression of what bodies and music already say so well: the power of love and the voluptuousness of life.

    Fêu - salle Dufy - 7:30 pm; 8:45 pm; 10 pm
In this new creation, choreographer Fouad Boussouf continues his exploration of collective energy, communion and the continuity of tribal, vibratory movement, as seen in his piece Näss, which MAM Paris had the pleasure of hosting in December 2020 in the salle Dufy as part of an ARTE Concert / Blogothèque production.

    Fouad Boussouf

Fouad Boussouf calls dance élan. It's a word that also characterizes his own journey, made up of an ever-alert curiosity and a constant desire to escape. Arriving in France at the age of seven, he discovered the codes of a new cultural universe and, as a teenager, was introduced to hip hop to the sound of Prince and Michael Jackson cassettes. Dance became the path to personal construction and recognition, through bodywork.

From then on, Fouad Boussouf's career has been shaped by the urgency of a constantly renewed creative impulse. Hybrid, unconcerned with etiquette and firmly rooted in the present, his dance uses hip hop vocabulary to serve his various projects. Over the years, he has affirmed a style based on spontaneous gesture and continuous movement, which never begins and never stops. Driven by this dynamic, which moves them beyond their usual gestures, the performers generate an irresistible cyclical energy on stage.

For this "citizen of the world", creation imposes a rhythm guided by emotion, a taste for risk and a constant desire to move forward.

Since January 1, 2022, Fouad Boussouf has been Director of Le Phare Centre Chorégraphique Nationale Havre Normandie.
