The Nuit des Musées is an opportunity to visit museums in a different way, in the evening, and to rediscover collections that we know so well, thanks to a range of original activities. Some offer special guided tours, others shows or concerts, others activities for children... But it's also an opportunity to discover places you've never been before.
Located in the Bois de Boulogne, at the end of Paris's 16th arrondissement, the Louis Vuitton Foundation is often overlooked by the people of Paris. And that's a shame: this architecturally atypical site is home to some real treasures.
Dedicated to cultural and artistic creation, the Fondation Louis Vuitton showcases a wide range of artists, including painters, musicians, singers and dancers. A rich and varied program of artistic masterpieces awaits the curious and the passionate.
If you want to discover or rediscover the Fondation Louis Vuitton, there's a good plan for you: on Saturday May 18, 2024, on the occasion of the Nuit des Musées, the contemporary art venue opens its doors free of charge to all visitors, for the duration of an exceptional cultural evening.
Discover the exhibitions "Matisse, L'Atelier rouge" and "Ellsworth Kelly. Formes et Couleurs, 1949-2015". Special micro-visits will take place every 30 minutes at the points indicated "micro-visites", in both exhibitions.
The "Matisse, L'Atelier rouge" exhibition is devoted to the genesis and history of this famous 1911 masterpiece, one of MoMA's signature works since its acquisition in 1949. It depicts the artist's studio and the paintings, sculptures and decorative objects it contains. The exhibition brings together for the first time the works present in L'Atelier rouge since they left Matisse's studio in Issy-les-Moulineaux. It is enriched by previously unseen archive documents and works shedding light on the context of creation and the adventure of this painting.
The exhibition "Ellsworth Kelly, Forms and Colors, 1949-2015", is dedicated to Ellsworth Kelly, considered one of the most important American abstract painters and sculptors. Spanning seven decades, his career is marked by the independence of his art from any school or artistic movement, and by his innovative contribution to twentieth-century painting and sculpture. The exhibition features over a hundred works, including paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs and collages.
