Calling all history buffs! Museums in Paris and Île-de-France are packed with gorgeous exhibitions telling you more about the history of France the world… And if you do not know where to start, here is a great selection of historic exhibitions and retrospectives to visit again and again to travel back in time!

How about traveling back in time without leaving the city? No need of a DeLorean and other time machines coming straight from a novel by H.G. Wells to do so: museums in Paris and Île-de-France will do wonders and offer for many of them some fabulous historic exhibitions to learn everything about the past eras.

Whether it comes to the history of France or other countries in the world, there is something for everyone… No matter how old you are! Go to the musée de l'Armée and learn everything about the history of wars in France and the world. Or head to the musée Guimet or musée Cernuschi to dive into Asian history and culture. Or opt for the musée de la Libération de Paris or the musée de la Grande Guerre in Meaux to learn more about the history of WWI and WWII… In other words, they have it all to teach you all about history!
