The Champs-Elysées will be pedestrian Sunday July 1, 2018

The Champs Elysées is pedestrian only 1 Sunday per month : After the launching of the car free day on September 2015, pedestrians keep gaining ground as the anti-pollution plan is becoming harsher. Next rendez-vous July 1, 2018!

The Champs Elysées will be pedestrian one Sunday per month starting from May 2016. After the recent success of the car free day, the idea of walking down one of the most beautiful places in the world without hearing any car around is quite exciting. This decision, announced by Anne Hidalgo during the wishes of the elected members of the Council of Paris on January 6th 2016, follows the path of the anti-pollution plan launched in the French capital. Next session: March 4, 2018!

The Mayor of Paris also floated the idea of making the right edge of the banks of the Seine pedestrian only by the end of the summer of 2016 - a project that was approved by the Council of Paris on December 2015. The anti-pollution plan keeps getting bigger, by imposing traffic restrictions for older cars and trucks. Another piece of news that will make the pedestrians and cyclists very happy.

Starting from this summer, new pedestrian only zones will be open on Sundays and holidays. “There has to be at least one “Paris respire” near your home”, that’s what’s announced on the official website of the City of Paris, as shown on the map below.

With "Paris Respire", the City of Paris intends to reduce its fine-particle emissions.
