Set in Paris 16th arrondissement, the La Muette neighborhood, this small but dense cemetery is the last house of many great names of aristocracy, finance, industry and politics; as well as prominent artists including composer Claude Debussy, writers Maurice Genevoix, Jean Giraudoux and Octave Mirabeau, high designer Hubert de Givenchy, actor Fernandel and painter Edouard Manet.
The Passy Cemetery enjoys a very favorable location, set close to the Trocadero Gardens. We can even catch a glimpse of our dear Eiffel Tower on the other bank of the Seine through the many chestnut trees of the place!
For the anecdote, the Passy Cemetery was first a small cemetery that didn’t look much, before welcoming in 1874 the upper crust of the Parisian society and turn into this beautiful cemetery with the 2600 graves we know today.
So, if you’re looking for some peace and serenity, far from the Trocadero bustle, a small visit of the Passy Cemetery will make you lots of good!
