Animations and Christmas market 2018 in front of Paris City Hall

For Christmas celebrations 2018, the city of Paris wants to inaugurate a Christmas village in front of the City Hall with Christmas market and free animations from December 14, 2018 to January 6, 2019.

Goodbye Christmas ice skating rink in front of Paris City Hall. In 2018, the city of Paris provides a Christmas market with a mini Christmas market with free animations running from December 14, 2018 to January 6, 2019.

The Christmas village includes:

  • A pine trees and white birches forest filled with lights and wooden decor by Paris lumberjacks.

  • A wooden-horses merry-go-round, a little train driving through the forest... Charged from December 14 to 22, these animations will be free later on, during the school break.

  • Santa Claus, every day for a picture from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.

  • Local craftsmen's cabins labelled “made in Paris” displaying their know-how and produces. For the foodies: gingerbread men, pine tree meringues, waffles and mulled wine... Organic and homemade goods.

With this Christmas village, the city of Paris wants to cheer up the square in front of the city hall that was empty back in 2017 after the announcement of the cancellation of the ice skating rink for ecological reasons.

Trees set in front of the City Hall come at 70% from the Achères garden center belonging to Paris horticultural center that mostly aims at producing Christmas trees for Paris public equipments decorations. It's an ecofriendly cultivation.

Also note that at the end of the Holiday season, these trees cut into shavings will be used for mulching the city's green spaces.
