Jellyfishes as you’ve never seen them before… L’Aquarium de Paris opens its brand-new area focusing on these cnidaria groups, the Medusarium. Starting January 16, 2019, seabeds lovers now have the chance to come up close and personal with these fascinating creatures in a new space after three years of work.
All in all, 24 pools offer visitors the chance to observe 25 species of jellyfishes, in rotation, because of the temporary features of their existence and to discover their environment. By each pool, a screen is available for sea lovers to discover more about all the features of the species displayed to the public.
In the center of the Medusarium, a never-seen-before and custom-made pool by a Japanese artisan in Otsuki, on the Mount Fuji, offers the chance to children and their parents to observe these cnidarias from every angle, especially from under. A rich and varied collection of jellyfishes highlighted by an exhibition around Ernst Haeckel’s boards that reinforces the will of L’Aquarium de Paris to raise awareness about “the major issues affecting oceans such as climate changes or pollution responsible for the disappearance of marine eco-systems that are yet vital for the quality of life on Earth”.
Jellyfishes that become the thread for 2019 at L’Aquarium de Paris since the cultural venue will offer all year long activities, paper chases, creative workshops around these invertebrates, a cycle of conferences with experts, a playful trail or even a program of animated movies and movies on the matter. Shall we visit seabeds, friends?
