Inaugurated 130 years ago for the World’s Fair, the Eiffel Tower celebrates its birthday on Wednesday May 15, 2019. After a free concert performed by Jeanne Added in front of it, the public can enjoy a light and unique show created by famous set designer Bruno Seillier. An extraordinary show to discover from May 15 to 17 with 3 performances a day.

130 years and not one wrinkle, our beautiful Iron Lady celebrate its birthday! On May 15, 1889, the Eiffel Tower opened for the first time. To celebrate this anniversary as it should be, the Eiffel Tower offers several highlights all year long. After a festivre weekend with music and Adventure game on March 30 and 31, the Eiffel Tower invites us again to party on Wednesday May 15, 2019 with several entertainments on the menu.

Who would have thought, 130 years ago, that the Eiffel Tower will become the symbol of Paris? Not its detractors. Today, this architectural prowess keeps on living and improving for our greatest pleasure. In addition to the new bar and restaurants coming up, the place also improves its welcome and its entertainments to seduce us even more.

During this festive day on Wednesday May 15, 2019, in the afternoon, the Eiffel Tower invites first 1300 children from Parisian activity clubs, between 6 and 12 years of age, to come and visit the 2nd and 1st floor of the Tower. Stories and anecdotes delivered by the customer service assistants will pace these tours.

What's next? Jeanne Added's famous free concert (by invitation) to discover in front of the Eiffel Tower, from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Co-organized by cultural media Cercle and its new Drop platform, the artist's show will be broadcasted live on Drop Facebook page and the Eiffel Tower Facebook page as well.

Finally, as the highlight of this day, from 10 p.m., an exclusive light show. Designed by famous set designer Bruno Seillier - also behing the legendary Dame de Coeur show in Notre-Dame de Paris, and produced in partnership with EDF - this light work will return on the story of the Eiffel Tower, from its birth to nowadays. This show will reveal unique visual effects (laser projections, stroboscopic effects and DNA...). For the record, the best view point to admire the show is the Trocadéro and its gardens.

Note that this light show lasts about ten minutes and will loop between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m., then for two nights on Thursday May 16 and Friday 17, 2019 at nightfall. All in all, 3 shows a day but note that only the shows at 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. will feature a sound system.

The Eiffel Tower also plans other events all year long to celebrate its 130th anniversary, especially with the famous summer terrace that will be a nod to the 130 years. On the menu as well, a dynamic and interactive exhibition returning on the major steps of the construction of the Tower (Fall), to be continued, then.

Since March 30, the admission ticket to the Tower also celebrates the 130th anniversary; it’s the occasion to keep a souvenir of this anniversary year. Finally, the take away offers also switches to the birthday mode. As for sweet treats, two tartlets – one with lemon, the other with chocolate – as well as a macaron, all of them are topped with a white chocolate dot displaying the logo of the event and can be discovered all year long.

Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
