Notice to fans of the Cars franchise! Disneyland Paris announced several months ago, via the update of its park plan, the arrival of a "new" attraction within the Walt Disney Studios. Families and fans of Flash McQueen will be able to discover Cars Road Trip (formerly named Cars Route 66 Road Trip), a re-theming of the Studio Tram Tour attraction and the second of the resort, after Cars Four Wheels Rally located in the same park.
The opening, originally planned for the summer of 2020, has unfortunately been postponed to a later date due to the closure of the parks and the stoppage of work due to the coronavirus epidemic. But good news all the same: on the occasion of the 29 years of the destination, this Monday, April 12, 2021, Beth Clapperton, artistic director at Walt Disney Imagineering, announced that the attraction would open as soon as the park reopens, closed due to Covid. An announcement that confirms that made by Tom Fitzgerald, one of the imagineers who is in charge of the attraction, in a video an opening officially for 2021.
To make fans wait before they can discover it with their own eyes, the Parisian theme park gave news, on the occasion of IAAPA 2020 on Monday, November 16, of the ongoing work for the future attraction through two photos. What did they show us? That the work is progressing well in Catastrophe Canyon, the "aquatic" part of the attraction where the truck-trains are violently shaken by an "earthquake" in the middle of a canyon, before being splashed. For lack of being able to have a real glimpse of the Dinoco truck, it is the tank, repainted with the colors of the franchise, that we can observe on these shots.
And also add, on November 23, 2020, new visuals on the progress of the new station that will welcome visitors before embarking on the road of the films stamped Pixar. A brand new station inspired by the "Mid-Century Modern" architectural style. According to the Disneyland Paris press site, visitors should enter through"a tourist stand with a number of road maps, postcards and other decorative objects".
An attraction amputated from part of its original route, due to the construction of an alley leading to the lake, provided in the park's expansion plan and announced in February 2018. This one invites children and their parents to an entertaining journey, similar to what Studio Tram Tour offers, with a behind-the-scenes discovery of the animated film from Pixar.
It should be noted that although the route has changed, visitors should find some of the original attraction's scenographies, such as the canyon. On the other hand, the whole part in the London reconstruction has already been destroyed for the needs of the future Marvel zone, Avengers Campus. Note also that the entrance of the attraction will in the future be located in Toy Story Playland.
