After big cats and monkeys, La Brie, in Seine-et-Marne, welcome South American animals gathered in a new wildlife park, Parrot World, in Crécy-la-Chapelle, since August 15, 2020. But Covid has returned and forced the park to close again because of lockdown... Good news in May, 2021: Parrot World is to reopen from May 19 when lockdown is lifted and expects you with plenty of novelties!
"I'm both relieved and delighted our loyal visitors - who have been supporting us for long months of closure - can come back and enjoy animals in the open air and discover our new lodgers" the park founder, Eric Vignot, said. As for novelties, the Children's Ranch has been extended and births happened in the park. Get ready to make wonderful encounters!
Moving on to entertainments, you are invited to be for half a day an animal! The occasion to see animals very close and learn more on their environment and working as a keeper.
Designed by the Parrot Wildlife Foundation (foundation for the preservation and the reproduction of endangered Psittaciformes), Parrot World brings together animals from Amazonia and Patagonia, for an immersive visit in a décor close to the natural habitat of these species.
On the menu then, meetings with jaguars, penguins, otters, guanacos, rheas, and about a hundred colorful birds: ibises, parrots, flamingoes. Parrots (macaws, amazons, and conures) are gathered in the ginormous aviary: one of the biggest in Europe, please!
Every day you can attend several instructive workshops including feeding animals. But here, no parrots riding a bike or doing a flag act.
And if you want to take the experience further, Parrot World provides five lodges to spend the night close to animals - including facing jaguars.
For small visitors, there is even a child-friendly ranch with dwarf goats and alpacas. These pets are the only ones you can pet and feed.
A 1000-sqm playground with slides and monkey bridges expect visitors.
Yet, please note the park is very sunny and shadow is quite rare. Hats, sunscreen and sunglasses are highly recommended to fully enjoy it in the summer.
In the gigantic aviary, capybaras peacefully enjoys a huge place alongside flamoingos and parrots. Outside, rheas lie down on the grass, while Humboldt penguins have settled in the biggest pen in Europe, an immersive space visitors can walk in, including birdhouses for reproduction.
This is quite a change for the little city of Crécy-la-Chapelle (a bit over 4,200 inhabitants) is set about thirty minutes from Paris, accessible by car via the A4, or transilien train from the Gare de l’Est.
