Have you heard about Palais Galliera? Nestled in Paris 16th arrondissement, this splendid building house Paris Fashion Museum. And behind this magnificent building lays a charming garden attracting Parisians and tourists for a lovely break in the sun. this is the Square Brignole-Galliera.
While looking over the gorgeous Italian Renaissance-inspired building, Palais Galliera yard completes the picture providing us with an elegant green setting. Here, many benches line the paths, surrounding flowerbeds with lovely colors, and a few works of art adorn this beautiful garden. These flowerbeds are a treat for sore eyes all year around.
Among them stands the Fontaine de l’Avril designed by Pierre Roche. If you closely look at the pillar you can read the following statement: “Il est gentil le mois d’avril qui n’ait son chapeau au grésil” meaning “How gentle is April to not have its hat to fine hail”. Other sculptures stand in the garden and symbolize the art de vivre such as “L’Enfance de Bacchus” [Bacchus’ Childhood] by Jean-Joseph Perraud or “Le Dieu Pan et un Tigre” [Pan God and a Tiger] by Just Becquet.
