The Iron Lady is getting a makeover: renovations and maintenance prevent visitors from reaching the top of the Eiffel Tower from January 3 to February 4, 2022.

Millions of visitors climb up to the top every year to admire Gustave Eiffel’s work and panorama. It also suffers from the extreme weather conditions: permanent wind, snow, rain, hail, sun, and heat… In other words, the Eiffel Tower does indeed need a youth therapy. From January 3 to February 4, 2022, the top of the tower is closed to the public: renovation and maintenance are carried out right at the very top of the Tower and the lifts.

Every year, the Eiffel Tower carries out a few renovations to save this national landmark and keep visitors safe. For the first month of 2022, workers will work to “improve the safety and comfort of visits”, the website of the monument reads. Works will apply to stairs, floors, sanitary facilities, the glass panels, lighting, radiators, and the two lifts leading to the summit from the second floor.

All along renovations, the first and second floors of the Eiffel Tower stay open. They also provide mind-blowing views on the capital city and stores, food areas, and entertainments for children and adults.

Furthermore, all January long, the Eiffel Tower will be lit in the colors of the European Union to celebrate France’s presidency of the EU Council.
