Great Costume Day at the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte: a magical and fun event

It's a day out of time, a little magic bubble that we like to offer ourselves every year thanks to the Domaine de Vaux le Vicomte: Sunday June 25, 2023, it's the Grand Costume Day (formerly called Grand Siècle Day)! Get ready to go back to the 17th century, to the time of Nicolas Fouquet's parties! On the program of this exceptional Sunday: period costumes, games and visit of the castle.

Welcome to Petit Versailles, the sumptuous palace that inspired the creation of the Sun King's castle. We are back to the 17th century for a festive day, where we are encouraged to dress up in our best period costumes. For one day in June, visitors can pretend to be nobles of the Court, in the magnificent setting of Vaux-le-Vicomte.

A day of costumes in the style of the Grand Siècle, where baroque dances mingle with musketeer shows and horse-drawn carriage rides, for a unique experience of the French way of life at the time of Louis XIV and Nicolas Fouquet.

Children also take part in this festive day, with many games proposed in the gardens. Just like the children of the 17th century, your little princes and princesses can have fun admiring the water games that animate the fountains and ponds of the park.

This year again, you can participate in the"most beautiful lunch on the grass" contest: it's up to you to find the most astonishing, extravagant or zany picnic setting possible, to impress the jury.

To make this day even more memorable, you can choose the VIP pack "Les Ambassadeurs du Grand Siècle". This prestigious ticket gives you access to the parterre of the bassin de la couronne, privatized for the occasion. There, antique games, a bubble bar, snacks and entertainment await you, as well as baroque dance lessons.

Good to know: to fully enjoy the atmosphere of this extraordinary day, it is of course preferable to be in costume. However, if you cannot afford a costume, the castle can provide you with a golden mask at the entrance. So you can have fun like everyone else, pretending to be a mysterious visitor of Nicolas Fouquet!
