This Sunday June 13, 2021, Vaux-le-Vicomte estate invites us for the 16th Grand Siècle Day. Even though the celebration does not require us to come all dressed-up in period costumes, it will be a shame not to be noticed because, for a day, we go back to the 17th century, at the time of celebrations with Nicolas Fouquet!
On the occasion, history and/or costume passionate are invited to show up in their most beautiful costumes, for a festive day at the Petit Versailles.
A day devoted to the Grand Siècle costumes during which baroque dance are mixed with musketeer shows and rides in horse-drawn carriages, for a unique experience of the French art de vivre at the time of Louis XIV and Nicolas Fouquet!
New this year: the château invites dressed-up visitors to create living scenes thanks to the giant frames scattered across the garden and inside the château.
In order to celebrate 50 years since the opening of the estate to the public, the château renews with its tradition of sharing with as many people as possible and invites visitors to vote for the best costumes of the day!
Please note the parade might be cancelled if the health situation does not enable it to take place.
Take part in the award for "most beautiful lunch on the grass", the main event of the day awarding tableware presentations that are the most bucolic or lavish, in the French formal gardens designed by Le Nôtre.
Good to know: those coming in costumes can enjoy a privileged access to the gardens! To do so, buy a "costume" ticket online and show your ticket upon arrival. And for those of you who do not have costumes, you can rent one at the entrance.
This year, entries will have to be booked only! Please do not forget to book in advance!
