If you haven’t attended the seven previous editions of Mille & Une Orchidées, the exhibition is really worth the trip. So much more that it's also the occasion for you to purchase wonderful species of orchids with the specialists thanks to the temporary store open by the greenhouse.
Discover the exhibition:
The principle? Making Parisians and tourists discover fascinating and unknown species of orchids in the lovely setting of the flourishing large greenhouses, recently renovated and re-fitted-out of the Jardin des Plantes. On the occasion, 4 French orchids producers – Ryanne Orchidée, Vacherot & Lecoufle, Orchidium and Cour des Orchidées – will display in the heart of the greenhouse original plants in scenes full of flowers.
Featuring 92,000 specimens of orchids, the collection of the museum is scattered across continents - Africa, Asia, Americas, Oceania (including New-Caledonia) and Europe including 160 species in France and 1000 "wild" species. For sevent year, the Museum unveils gems that are usually kept in the greenhouses of the Arboretum de Chèvreloup near Versailles, a wonderful occasion to discover some of the rare flowers belonging to this historic collection.
Indeed, the institution works to preserve and keep the living plant collections, with in vitro cultivations, additional tools to the traditional cultivation. It's in vitro that the Phalaenopsis florish today in our houses.
And for the gardeners who would like to leave with an orchid, producers and associations will present rare species and give you growing and upkeep advice in a 150-sqm tent. Asosciations such as the Société Française d'Orchidophilie [French Society for Orchids], or SFO, and the Association Française, Culture et Protection des Orchidées [French Association, Cultivation and Protection of Orchids], or AFCPO, will be here in the greenhouse to answer your questions.
And new this year, an "Instagram star" orchid route will highlight the very graphic flowers enjoying varied and surprising shapes!
