On Museums Night shall we visit a museum outside Paris? On Saturday May 2017, be ready for a change of scenery and let’s go discover museums in Seine-et-Marne!

Not less than 3,000 French museums took part in European Museums Night 2016 and over 2 million visitors answered the call. This year, thousands of activities are organized within the participating museums (concerts, guided tours, screenings, performances...).

For museum regulars or unusual enthusiasts, Museums Night also offers the opportunity to visit unusual places. To help you making the right choice, here is our selection among the nicest museums in Seine-et-Marne:

  • Château-Musée de Nemours
    For Museums Night, the Château de Nemours which is also a museum opens its doors until late in the day offering a guided tour of the former jails court. Throughout the evening, you can visit the exhibition “Au masculin” with candles and three musicians!

  • Château de Fontainebleau
    On Saturday May 20, 2017 we make the best of Museums Night to discover or rediscover all over again the Château de Fontainebleau. Grab this occasion to freely visit the Chateau apartments remained in the same state since the reign of Napoleon III!

  • Museums Night at the Château de Champs-sur-Marne
    For Museums Night, the Château de Champs-sur-Marne and the Centre des monuments nationaux invite you to discover the colorful and sparkling park and Château de Champs-sur-Marne. On Saturday May 20, 2017 from 7 p.m. to midnight, you are invited to make the monument sparkle, dance and vibrate!

  • Musée de la Grande Guerre (Meaux)
    What about visting the Musée de la Grande Guerre on Museums Night? With 3,000 objects, uniforms and documents, the museum is a hot sport for collective memory! On Museums Night, a great quest is organized... Do not forget your magnifying glasses!

  • Musée des peintres at Barbizon
    The hamlet of Barbizon features numerous museums and inns reminding that artists liked stopping by in the Fontainebleau forest. In addition to visiting these museums, Museums Night offers the opportunity to take a night-time walk in the forest along with an Office National des Forêts (Forest National office) agent whilst listening to hunting horns.

  • Musée des Transports urbains (Chelles)
    The Musée des Transports urbains (museum of urban transports) at Chelles exceptionally opens its doors on Museums Night. It will be the opportunity to discover over 200 years of urban transports thanks to hundreds of buses and other engines.
